BEIJING—Chinese wireless Internet company Tom Online said it will spend $75 million to acquire Infomax, which offers mobile interactive applications and services.
Infomax was founded in 2003 and markets its offerings through television networks and other entertainment platforms. Tom Online, which offers wireless messaging and mobile marketing service, said it hopes to increase its distribution channels with the buyout.
“In the TV media alone, we have accumulated a vast amount of content cooperation experiences through our partnerships with more than 200 TV stations,” said Wang Lei Lei, Tom Online’s chief executive officer. “I believe, with the addition of Infomax, Tom Online will be able to further enhance its TV distribution network, which in turn will help promote the growth of our entertainment services.”
