SEATTLE—Junxion Inc.’s cellular/wireless local area network box recently received carrier approval from both Cingular Wireless L.L.C. and Sprint Nextel Corp. The device combines a Wi-Fi radio with a PC card slot for use with a carrier’s data card to provide wide area wireless backhaul for Wi-Fi enabled devices.
Junxion noted that the device has been used in a number of applications, including as a mobile hot spot for public transportation, as well as an increasing interest in mobile surveillance applications. The device was recently displayed at both Cingular’s and Sprint Nextel’s booths at the CTIA 2006 Wireless event.
