MILWAUKEE—Brady Corp., which makes die-cut components used by mobile handset manufacturers and electronics companies, announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Tradex Converting AB.
Tradex, headquartered in Kungalv, Sweden, manufactures pressure sensitive, die-cut adhesive components for the mobile handset and electronics industries. Its products are designed to provide joining, sealing, shielding, insulation and protection in the manufacturing of mobile phones and handheld devices. Products include precision-cut adhesives and protective tapes for lenses and displays; acoustic components like speaker cloths, meshes, adhesives, cushions and gaskets; EMI shielding; and printed circuit-board insulators.
The company, which employs 1,000 people worldwide, had 2005 sales of about $90 million. It has manufacturing operations in Sweden, China, South Korea and Brazil. Brady, headquartered in Milwaukee, employs 5,500 people and has operations in the United States, Europe, Asia/Pacific, Latin America and Canada.
The acquisition is subject to customary regulatory approvals, said the companies.
