LAS VEGAS—Go Networks introduced its Metro Broadband Wireless system, which is a Wi-Fi system designed for metropolitan deployments.
The announcement highlights the growing demand for municipal Wi-Fi networks, which are being launched across the country. Go Networks is the latest in a series of equipment vendors to release products for such municipal Wi-Fi networks.
Go Networks said its new system is based on cellular network architectures that employ micro/pico cell designs. The solution includes roof-mounted, multichannel micro base stations and single-channel streetlight-mounted pico base stations to extend coverage. The system is centrally managed through a base station controller, said the company.
Go said its solution works with all 802.11 b/g clients and does not require changes to end-user devices.
