TAMPA, Fla.-Motorola Inc. announced it has acquired the next-generation cable network technology assets of privately-held Broadband Innovations Inc. for an undisclosed amount. Motorola said it expects the acquisition to improve the quality of its advanced services, including high-speed data exchange and video over Internet Protocol.
“Motorola’s newly acquired innovations, combined with our already strong portfolio of next-generation network solutions, will help enable cable service providers to efficiently deliver highly-compelling entertainment and communications applications to the connected homes of their customers,” said Charles Dougherty, corporate vice president and general manager of Connected Home Solutions at Motorola.
The company said that many of Broadband Innovations’ employees are expected to join the Motorola Connected Home Solutions business and will continue to be based in San Diego.
