CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-Sprint PCS affiliate UbiquiTel Inc. reported 13,200 net customer additions during the third quarter of this year compared with 18,800 net customer additions during the third quarter of 2002. UbiquiTel added that despite the drop in customer growth, its net subscriber mix improved from 86 percent prime credit customers during the third quarter of 2002 to 90 percent this year.
Customer churn dropped year-over-year from 4.3 percent during the third quarter of 2002 to 3.4 percent this year, but increased substantially from the 2.9 percent reported during the second quarter of this year, which UbiquiTel attributed to an increase in voluntary churn.
Average revenue per user remained stable year-over-year at $58, while the cost per gross addition dropped from $474 to $466. UbiquiTel noted wireless data services contributed $1.48 to ARPU during the third quarter, which was a 63 percent improvement compared with the second quarter of this year.
Total revenues increased from $61 million during the third quarter of 2002 to $72.8 million this year. Net losses also improved from $30.5 million last year, a loss of 38 cents per share, to $7 million this year, a loss of 8 cents per share.
