Developing Netflix for Android will add to the firm’s current push into the portable handheld market, following the launch of the company’s iPad application last week.
The Netflix service offers online flat rate DVD & Blu Ray rental as well as video streaming in the United States. The service currently boasts 100,000 titles and 10 million subscribers.
Netflix’s ambition to go after the handheld market is no secret, with the firm’s CEO Reed Hastings already having expressed his desire to bring the service to the iPod Touch and iPhone in September 2009.
This latest job posting shows Netflix’s mobile ambitions are very much alive and well and that customers should expect Netflix to come to an Android device near you very soon indeed.
