Palm plans PDA with Wi-Fi capabilities

MILPITAS, Calif.-Palm plans to release a new personal digital assistant that features integrated support for Wi-Fi networks, according to an industry source familiar with the company’s plans.

The source confirmed a Cnet report detailing the new device, as well as rumors posted on Palm enthusiast Internet sites. The Tungsten C will sell for around $500 and will feature a processor from Intel Corp.-notable since Palm has in the past used chips from Texas Instruments.

Palm will also release a new PDA in its line of Zire products, according to the source. The device will feature an integrated camera.

A Palm spokeswoman said the company does not comment on future products.
