LONDON-U.K. mobile virtual network operator Virgin Mobile reported its highest sales ever in last year’s fourth quarter, bringing in 370,530 new subscribers during the quarter compared with 232,300 in the third quarter of last year.
The company’s total U.K. subscriber base stood at nearly 2.4 million at the end of 2002, a growth of 65 percent during the year. It had 2002 revenue of $473 million and a customer base average revenue per user of $221.
The operator said the fourth-quarter numbers were due to its best Christmas period since it launched service using capacity from T-Mobile’s wireless network in November 1999.
