TOKYO-Japanese content developer Bandai said it launched Charappal, its first content service for the European mobile market. The service will be available as an official i-mode content service offered by German operator E-Plus.
Charappal is a download service for character-themed screen images and developed from the popular Japanese version.
Bandai said E-Plus currently has 100,000 i-mode subscribers with 100 official sites and 7,000 independent sites.
The news follows Japanese content provider Mitsui & Company’s announcement earlier this week that it plans to expand its mobile content distribution business in Europe and Asia.
