BEDMINSTER, New Jersey, United States-Flarion Technologies announced a field trial with Korean Internet service provider Hanaro Telecom using Flarion’s Flash-OFDM wireless broadband system.
This will be Flarion’s second trial in Korea, following its trial in October with SK Telecom. The deal hopes to connect Korea’s wired broadband to the wireless world, according to Ronnie Haroldsvick, senior director of marketing. The trial will use the 2.3 GHz band, which belonged to wireless local loop (WLL), according Matt Bancroft, senior director of business development.
“Hanaro Telecom plans to create a new 2.3 GHz wireless Internet market and repeat the same success as ADSL, utilizing Flarion’s Flash-OFDM technology,” said Yun-Sik Shin, chief executive officer (CEO) of Hanaro Telecom.
