New software product from Sun includes Aligo technology

SAN FRANCISCO-Sun Microsystems Inc. will release next year the Sun ONE software, which incorporates the M-1 Mobile Application Server technology that San Francisco-based Aligo Inc. developed.

The Java-based server “is a mobile business platform with patent-pending technology that ensures rapid development and deployment, robustness and ease of maintenance,” Aligo said.

Sun selected Aligo after considering a total of 40 vendors “because the company successfully demonstrated its ability to meet all of our mobile application requirements,” said John Fanelli, director of business management and product marketing for Sun.

Sun ONE software enables service providers and enterprises to access data from varied back-end systems using Java2 Platform, Enterprise Edition standards. The Aligo components Sun has licensed are designed to facilitate applications like groupware and mobile field service and sales.
