TOKYO-NTT DoCoMo, the largest mobile operator in Japan, started providing services using the N-Star C, a communication satellite that NTT DoCoMo launched by itself in July, the firm said. It is the only communications satellite launched and owned by a mobile company.
The N-Star C was launched to provide WideStar services, a satellite communications service from NTT DoCoMo. It will be used for communications between ship and/or emergency communications services. NTT DoCoMo is operating two other communications satellites with JSAT, a leading satellite company in Japan.
