DENVER-Qwest Communications International Inc. said it was informed by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Denver that it had begun a criminal investigation of the telecommunications provider, though the subject matter of the investigation was not disclosed.
Qwest has been questioned by the Securities and Exchange Commission about how it accounted for purchasing and selling bandwidth.
Qwest has said it would like to sell its wireless unit, which offers service to more than 1 million customers in 10 states.
