Microsoft unveils Bluetooth solution

SEATTLE—Microsoft Corp. unveiled a Bluetooth-enabled wireless mouse and keyboard solution at the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference 2002, with plans to commercially market the devices later this year.

The computer giant said the keyboard and mouse will be able to work reliably as much as 30 feet away from the computer, while the included transceiver can act as a portal to the PC for up to seven Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Microsoft said it would continue to offer its existing wireless keyboard and mouse products, which operate on 27 MHz technology, as a lower-cost alternative to its Bluetooth products.
