LONDON—According to the GSM Association, about three-quarters of a billion short message service (SMS) messages are sent out every day, a soaring number for the simple wireless application.
“GSM Text is a global communications phenomena—but SMS has helped create a new global language,” said Robert Conway, the association’s chief executive officer.
