REDMOND, Wash.-Metawave Communications Corp. and Verizon Wireless are joining to supply smart antenna products.
The agreement, which consolidates previous arrangements Metawave had with Bell Atlantic, AirTouch and GTE, calls for Metawave to supply Verizon with a suite of smart antenna systems that will increase the capacity and improve performance of CDMA wireless networks.
In other news from Verizon, the company plans to spend in excess of $170 million to enhance and expand its network in the Greater Bay area in California. Verizon said the investment will enable more simultaneous calls on Verizon’s CDMA digital network, improve signal delivery strength and provide the capacity for next-generation services.
