Tality offers GSM/GPRS handset design solution

SAN JOSE, Calif.-Tality Corp., a subsidiary of Cadence Design Systems Inc., has developed a GSM/GPRS handset design solution, a platform that Tality said will accelerate the way to GSM/GPRS handsets.

The platform uses Conexant Systems Inc.’s new GSM/GPRS chipset and Conexant’s GPRS protocol stack. It will allow for the development of customized handsets with options including personal information management, voice dialing and recording, predictive text entry, and HTML/CHTML and WAP browsers.

“The only feasible way to meet a handset design time target of six months is to start with a pre-designed core system, such as the Tality handset platform,” said Tality’s Brent Hudson, commenting on the urgency for 2.5G networks brought on by 3G delays. He added, “Our platform will also significantly reduce development risk, and offer a competitive bill of materials.”
