Siemens cuts jobs

MUNICH, Germany-Siemens AG has announced layoffs of 2,000 workers as part of its measures to make the company more profitable.

The German phone maker and infrastructure supplier, which entered the United States wireless space about three months ago, had cut 3,500 jobs last month. This new round of layoffs brings the number of positions cut to 8,100 for the year.
