Cox Communications Inc. selected Interop Technologies to provide its messaging solutions, including its SMS Center 4 Series, Multimedia Messaging Center , WAP Gateway, and the hosted Common Short Code Gateway.
Cox is quietly building out its wireless network and has publicly released little information about the buildout. The cable operator spent more than $300 million on 700 MHz spectrum last year. Huawei is building the network. Cox owns 12 megahertz of spectrum licenses covering 76% of its cable footprint.
“SMS, MMS, short-code messaging, and access to the mobile Internet are essential to the Cox customer experience,” said Dane Dickie, Cox’s Executive Director of Wireless Product Development. “Our wireless solutions must be reliable and scalable to ensure we consistently deliver the leading-edge, converged services that are at the core of the Cox wireless experience.”
