TOKYO-Qualcomm Inc. announced VectorOne, an integrated hardware and software solution that provides directional information for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies’ Mobile Station Modem family of integrated circuits, beginning with the MSM3300 solution.
AP One systems Co. Ltd. of Tokyo, which provides electronic sensor technology, will provide geomagnetic sensor solutions and supply VectorOne devices for MSM-based handsets and other devices.
“We are pleased to be working with Qualcomm to enhance its premiere platform for integrated position location services,” said Yasuhiro Tamura, chairman and chief technical officer of AP One Systems. “VectorOne significantly increases the variety and capabilities of the position location applications that wireless carriers will be able to offer consumers.”
VectorOne, the latest addition to QCT’s Wireless Internet Launchpad suite of technologies, is a geomagnetic compass solution. It offers a direct system bus interface to QCT’s family of MSM integrated circuits, which the company said will allow efficient and seamless use with QCT’s gpsOne position location technologies.
QCT’s MSM3300 integrated circuit solution with VectorOne capabilities is expected to be integrated into the consumer products in Japan by the fourth quarter of this year, and in other worldwide markets by 2002.
