Triton churn drops in 4Q

BERWYN, Pa.-AT&T Wireless Services Inc. affiliate Triton PCS Holdings Inc. added 84,811 net customers during the fourth quarter of 2000 and more than doubled its total customer base from 195,204 at the end of 1999 to 446,401 for last year.

Triton also reported a decrease in its churn rate from 1.9 percent during the third quarter of 2000 to 1.7 percent for the fourth quarter. The company also noted that roaming minutes increased from 56.5 million during the fourth quarter of 1999 to 110 million minutes for the fourth quarter of 2000. “We continue to attract high-value customers at record rates while maintaining one of the lowest churn rates in the industry,” said Michael Kalogris, chairman and chief executive officer of Triton PCS.
