SAO PAULO, Brazil-The Gartner Group predicts Brazil will have about 600,000 WAP users at the end of the year.
The market research company said handset suppliers did not accomplish their goals of making available WAP-enabled TDMA handsets, and the carriers did not set the price of the service below voice prices.
“The suppliers said in June they would have handsets,” said Luciana Hayashi, Internet analyst for Gartner Group in Brazil.
“Then they postponed it until the end of September, and up to now there is no sign of the product in the market. In Brazil, most of the carriers adopted TDMA, and therefore, there is no service.”
