NEW|YORK-Texas Instruments plans to release next year a third-generation wireless solution for independent developers of modules for the Springboard expansion slot on Handspring’s Visor handheld computers.
“We are pleased to be working with TI to provide high-speed 3G wireless expansion capabilities to our line of Visor handheld computers, enabling, in addition to voice, a full range of wireless Internet content and applications,” said Ed Colligan, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Handspring.
Handspring is collaborating with TI on a design based on TI’s Open Multimedia Applications Platform, said Rick Kornfeld, general manager of TI’s San Diego Wireless Center.
