HOUSTON-Compaq Computer Corp. and Siemens Information and Communication Mobile said they have signed a worldwide agreement to jointly provide network management solutions for their base of worldwide wireless customers.
Under terms of the agreement, Siemens ICM will serve as a strategic partner for Compaq’s Telecommunications Management Information Platform, a standards-based, multiplatform network and service management system for existing and next-generation networks.
The companies will help mobile operators deploy the standards-based management solutions and provide a secure path to third-generation networks such as UMTS/IMT2000. Siemens ICM also selected Compaq Global Services as its partner to deliver Mobile Integrator solutions worldwide.
Marconi pact
Compaq also announced an agreement with Marconi Communications Ltd. to provide network operators with integrated, multivendor network and service management solutions.
Marconi will integrate Compaq’s TeMIP into its carrier-class ServiceOn Management suite of network management and operation support systems software, which is designed to enable service providers to manage their service businesses.
Compaq said the integration will provide network operators with one-stop service-layer management, allowing them to manage all equipment, regardless of technology type or vendor, from a single console.
