SOHPIA ANTIPOLIS, France-The European Telecommunications Standards Institute and Standards Committee T1, sponsored by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, signed a memorandum of understanding in recognition of their continuing collaborative relationship on standards-development activities.
The MoU was signed during the Global Standards Collaboration and Radio Standardization meetings in Sapporo, Japan. The meetings involved representatives from radio and telecom standards organizations hoping to improve the worldwide telecom standards-development process and communication between the participating organizations.
“ETSI’s informal relationship with Committee T1 over the past decade has worked very much in the interest of the global telecommunications industry,” explained Karl Rosenbrock, director-general of ETSI. “It has given rise to important technological developments and led to increased transatlantic harmonization. As an example, our collaboration on mobile technologies has had a lasting and beneficial effect in second- and third-generation technologies.”
ETSI said the MoU supports an environment for the exchange of information facilitating cooperation while preserving the integrity of the developed standards and processes of each organization.
