Following are infrastructure contracts announced during the past week:
ADC Telecom
Saudi Arabia: With the King Abdul Aziz Endowment in Mecca to supply its InterReach Fusion distributed antenna systems for mobile coverage throughout the 1.5-million-square-meter complex.

Alcatel-Lucent
France: With SFR to expand and upgrade its 2G/3G wireless network and for a trial of LTE technology. The agreement calls for Alcatel-Lucent to provide its Converged RAN solution for the 2G/3G upgrade and an end-to-end LTE solution, including base stations, for the LTE trial.

United States: With AT&T as one of two equipment suppliers for its planned LTE network deployment. Field trials are expected to happen this year, and commercial deployments are scheduled to begin in 2011. Alcatel-Lucent also was chosen to provide radio access network equipment for LTE service.

China: With the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics to upgrade its Wi-Fi networks at its four campuses with its Aruba 802.11n wireless local area networks and the AirWave Wireless Management Suite.

Motorola
Saudi Arabia: With Zain Saudi Arabia to deploy an LTE network in the capital city of Riyadh. Deployments are expected to begin in the second quarter.

Nokia Siemens Networks
India: With Bharti Airtel to expand the carrier’s 2.5G network and to increase capacity in eight circles, including Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh & Chattisgarh, Bihar & Jharkhand, Orissa, Kolkata and West Bengal. The contract includes the company’s Flexi multi-radio base stations, packet core platforms and microwave solutions.

Qatar: With Qtel International under a framework agreement to provide mobile network infrastructure, including its Flexi base stations, and support services.
