CANNES, France-RangeStar Wireless introduced three new antennas for wireless handsets that the company said it believes will revolutionize antenna technology.
RangeStar unveiled a wideband Code Division Multiple Access embedded antenna designed to work with third-generation technology. Weighing in at 1 gram, the new antenna enables original equipment manufacturers to install the antenna in small 3G devices without sacrificing the performance required by these systems.
The company also released a family of Reduced Specific Absorption Rate embedded antennas specifically designed to provide wireless design manufacturers with a solution to meet current European and Federal Communications Commission SAR requirements.
The new SAR antennas weigh 2 grams and meet federal regulations without shielding or power reduction, according to RangeStar.
With the introduction of the first Worldband embedded antenna for wireless devices, RangeStar intends to make global wireless communications easier. The new Worldband antenna weighs 1 gram and operates in the 900 MHz to 1900 MHz bands.
“This embedded antenna enables the design and manufacturing of a single antenna device for global communications,” said David McCartney, executive vice president of RangeStar. “We are now able to offer an embedded antenna solution that will handle a litany of frequencies.”
