IRVING, Texas-Nokia Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jorma Ollila raised the company’s global mobile subscriber estimate to more than 450 million subscribers worldwide by the end of the year.
Nokia said it expects global subscribers to reach 1 billion by the end of 2002, one year earlier than the company previously projected.
“Based on the fast market growth and our strong position, we believe it will be possible to reach net sales growth of 30 (percent) to 40 percent in 2000, which would exceed our long-term target of 25 (percent) to 35 percent,” Ollila said. Ollila also indicated the first third-generation network orders could come in next year.
