KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Sprint PCS and Sanyo Fisher Co., a division of Sanyo North America Corp., announced an exclusive agreement that calls for Sanyo Fisher to supply Sprint PCS with its new Sanyo SCP-4000 phone.
The agreement is valued at $140 million.
The Sanyo SCP-4000 is an Internet-ready, dual-band, data/fax/minibrowser-equipped Code Division Multiple Access/personal communications services phone. It is expected to be available in Sprint PCS stores and RadioShack stores nationwide beginning Oct. 1.
The two companies planned celebration events in connection with the agreement, including flying the Sanyo Blimp at Sunday’s Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium and a donation to the local chapter of the Grant-A-Wish Foundation.
