PALO ALTO, Calif.-Corsair Communications Inc. will deploy its PhonePrint fraud-prevention system for MobileTel Inc., a B-band cellular operator in southern Louisiana, announced Corsair.
Corsair will use its RF fingerprinting system to provide fraud protection for the carrier beginning this month.
“As our neighboring markets implement fraud-containment measures, we have seen the fraud on our network increase,” said Tommie Morgan, MobileTel general manager.
Cloning fraud is a continuing problem in surburban and rural areas, said David Thompson, vice president of marketing for Corsair. “We see carriers like MobileTel reporting significant fraud increases who previously did not have a problem. “It’s clear that cloners are not going away; they have simply adapted their operation to target unprotected markets.”
