CHIPS RECOGNIZED FOR PUBLIC SAFETY

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-The Cellular 9-1-1 Education Task Force last week recognized California Highway Patrol dispatchers during Public Safety Telecommunicator Week.

The task force is dedicated to educating wireless phone users about the responsible use of 911 systems.

“Each day hundreds of calls are made to 911, including requests for movie theater times, directions and general information,” said Steve Carlson, executive director of the Cellular Carriers Association of California and member of the task force. “Wireless 911 must only be called to report real emergencies such as traffic accidents, traffic hazards, reckless or suspected intoxicated drivers, medical emergencies, fires and crimes in progress.”
