ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc.’s Cellular Infrastructure Group was awarded two contracts to expand the Sichuan Posts and Telecommunications Association’s analog and digital cellular phone systems in China’s Sichuan province.
The expansion is the fifth phase of expansion for the operator’s Global System for Mobile communications and Total Access Communications Systems networks. Motorola agreed to install new base stations and upgrade existing base stations for the expansions.
Once the expansions are complete, the networks are expected to support 780,000 customers.
