COLUMBIA, Md.-Tecore Inc. has developed a scalable mobile switching center that it says will allow personal communications services license holders to implement a variety of advanced features without purchasing additional switches and systems.
The MSC includes such features as pre-paid capabilities, real-time billing, home/visitor location registers, call-in features, four levels of call forwarding (busy, no reply, not reachable and unconditional) and user-to-user security features. Because operators do not need to buy a separate adjunct switch for these capabilities, Tecore is touting the MSC as a cheaper and faster route to the PCS market.
“Our goal is to provide new PCS licensees with the most cost-effective, reliable and advanced switch on the market,” said David Winks, vice president of sales.
Wireless 2000 PCS, a C-and F-block licensee owned by Third Kentucky Cellular Corp., and Wireless Telecommunications Co. of Scottsbluff, Neb., both recently tapped Tecore to design and install such an MSC for their PCS networks.
Wireless 2000 has a C-block license in the Corbin, Ky., area and an F-block license that covers Middlesboro and Somerset as well as Corbin, Ky. WTC owns a C-block license that covers western Nebraska and part of eastern Wyoming.
Tecore said its MSC can interface with systems using Global System for Mobile communications, Time Division Multiple Access, Code Division Multiple Access and Advanced Mobile Phone Service technologies operating in PCS 1900, 1800, 900 and 800 MHz frequencies.
