STOCKHOLM, Sweden-BT Mobile awarded a contract to Ericsson Ltd. to upgrade BT’s wide area paging network.
The project, scheduled for completion this year, will add features and increase network capacity.
“BT needs flexibility to adapt their system as the subscriber base grows and new services are implemented,” said Peter Holm, marketing manager for Ericsson paging systems.
“The existing system uses POCSAG transmission at the moment, but may need to be upgraded to utilize the latest generation high-speed paging protocols in the future.”
This is the second contract between Ericsson and BT Mobile.
The first contract called for Ericsson to treble the volume of traffic BT’s network could handle, while improving reliability.
