AKRON, Ohio-Telxon Corp. will sell Itronix Corp., its ruggedized notebook computer subsidiary, to Dynatech Corp., according to a definitive agreement. The company expects the total cash purchase price to be around $65 million.
“The sale of Itronix is one of the many steps we have taken to increase our focus in our core mobile computing, wireless networking and systems integration business,” said Frank E. Brick, president and chief executive officer of Telxon.
Brick said the company purchased Itronix in 1993 for $4 million. Telxon will be allowed to continue to resell the Itronix X-C 6000 ruggedized notebook computer to its vertical markets, including insurance and professional work force automation applications.
