The Micro Digital M75 is a Time Division Multiple Access digital phone from Motorola Inc.’s Cellular Subscriber Group. The Flip Phone meets the Telecommunications Industry Association IS-136 standard for North American TDMA digital cellular service. The dual mode phone automatically will access a TDMA system where available, or default to a conventional Advanced Mobile Phone Service system where TDMA service is not yet available. The phone includes a two-row, 10 character color screen, sleep mode, Caller ID, voice privacy, voice mail messaging, authentication and distinctive ringers. (800) 331-6456.

Maxon America Inc. introduced two new models in its AN Series of numeric and alphanumeric personal pagers. Each model is designed for POCSAG 512, 1200 or 2400 bps code format, and features a four-line, dot matrix liquid crystal display, accommodates message lengths of up to 1,000 characters displayed as 80 characters per single screen. The pagers can store up to 40 messages. Features of the new pagers include multidirectional message scrolling, clock and date display, message protect and delete, message review and several programmable settings and functions. Up to 10 canned messages can be pre-programmed. (816) 891-6320.

Northern Telecom announced its RW Series M digital microwave radio products covering the 23 GHz and 38 GHz frequency bands. The radios can be used in applications such as backhaul transport for wireless networks, broadband transport for access networks and local area network bridging for urban and campus environments. The radios are targeted for use by personal communications services providers, cellular operators, telephone operating companies, competitive access providers, utilities, businesses, military, government, emergency communications and public safety organizations. Nortel also introduced its S8000 Outdoor Base Transceiver Station, which supports up to eight transceivers and 2,000 busy-hour subscribers per cabinet. It is suited for a range of configuration and capacity requirements, and it supports sectored or omni cell site configurations in a single cabinet for flexible deployment in high-density urban, lower-capacity suburban and rural locations. The S8000 Outdoor BTS can be expanded up to a total of 24 transceivers and three cabinets per site. The company also unveiled its Digital Control Channel software, which works with existing analog infrastructure to provide digital personal communications services, using the same programmable DualMode Radio Units that deliver Advanced Mobile Phone Service, Time Division Multiple Access and Cellular Digital Packet Data services on a call-by-call basis. Digital Control Channel supports services such as Calling Line ID, message waiting indication and short message service. (800) 4NORTEL.

Decibel Products, a division of Allen Telecom Group Inc., announced it has added a complete line of coaxial cables, connectors and accessories to its line of base station antenna systems. The db TransTelecom product family includes foam cable, super flexible cable, air dielectric cable and radiating cable. All cables are tested to ensure excellent voltage standing wave ratio performance, attenuation and signal propagation. Decibel’s connectors have four O-rings to prevent water migration. (214) 634-8502.

The QCMobility Pilot Beacon Unit was introduced by Qualcomm Inc. The Pilot Beacon offers Code Division Multiple Access providers a method for seamless hard handoff within or between operating wireless networks. When deployed in perimeter analog cell sites bordering CDMA coverage areas, the Pilot Beacon sends out a pilot channel that is detected by the CDMA mobile phone and reports it back to the base station, which then ensures that the call is successfully handed off from the CDMA system to the analog system. The Pilot Beacon also can initiate a handoff from one CDMA carrier’s network to another network operating in either the same or different frequencies. (619) 587-1121.

Alan Dick USA announced the XPD Base Station Panel, a 45 Cross Polarized (XPD) Antenna available for cellular, personal communications services and personal communications network system frequencies. The panel is a dual polarized antenna with two orthogonal 45 degree slant radiators, which allow polarization diversity on the base station receive path. (603) 598-4500.
