TAMPA, Fla.-Nokia Inc., which originated color cellular phones, now offers the Nokia 239, an Advanced Mobile Phone Service cellular phone with a keypad cover.
The 239 has several features including a 16-character display with permanent signal and battery strength indicators, four “one-touch” dialing keys for instant access to emergency services, voice mail, frequently called numbers and a menu interface. The phone can send and receive faxes and e-mail using an optional cable that connects to any compatible PCMCIA modem card.
The standard 239 weighs 7.9 ounces, and provides 70 minutes of talk time and 15 hours of standby. Optional nickel cadmium and nickel metal hydride slim and ultra extended battery packs are available, which increase talk time to 2.5 hours and standby to 32 hours.
“With the 239, Nokia addresses the needs of those customers who desire the look and feel of a fold-down keypad cover without sacrificing the powerful features, friendly user interface and colorful style that they have come to expect with a Nokia phone,” said John Ferrari, product marketing specialist for Nokia Mobile Phones Inc., a unit of Nokia Inc.
