WITCHITA, Kan.-IFR Systems Inc. has begun shipping its new Interim Standard 136 Time Division Multiple Access digital cellular radio protocol analyzer.
The analyzer is the first test platform available to verify TDMA standards compliance for wireless cellular radio equipment, said IFR. The new system was developed under contract with the TDMA Forum for designers and system operators using IS-136 TDMA digital communications standards.
The TDMA Forum includes Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems, BellSouth Cellular, AT&T Wireless Services Inc. and Rogers Cantel Inc. Also included in the forum are almost 50 companies involved with the wireless telecommunications industry, said IFR.
“The IFR Systems IS-136 TDMA protocol analyzer was developed because the advanced digital operational requirements associated with TDMA standards require a more advanced test instrument than was available from any supplier,” said John McQueen, TDMA Forum project manager.
