ORLANDO, Fla.-AT&T Microelectronics and Cirrus Logic Inc. have announced the intent to form a joint manufacturing venture.
AT&T said the venture is designed to meet the worldwide demand for advanced integrated circuits that are used increasingly in products such as computing equipment, cellular phones and other electronic devices.
AT&T will own 60 percent of the venture and Cirrus Logic will have a 40 percent interest. AT&T will provide process technology developed by Bell Laboratories.
The venture will operate as a separate entity under the direction of the partners through a five-person board of directors, with three directors from AT&T and two from Cirrus Logic. The venture is slated to begin in early 1997.
