HONG KONG-Two Chinese paging operators have chosen Motorola Inc. to provide a paging network using the Illinois-based company’s high-speed FLEX paging protocol.
Chinese paging provider Beijing First Star has selected FLEX for its nationwide paging network. When fully installed at the end of the year, Beijing First Star is expected to provide paging service to 45 cities. The first phase is valued at $5 million. Subsequent expansions are expected to be announced next year.
Beijing First Star is a joint venture of investors Beijing Asia Pacific Co. and Singapore Telecom International.
The Wuhan Post and Telecommunication Bureau has signed a contract with the Motorola Paging Products Group to expand Wuhan’s citywide paging network using the FLEX protocol. The contract is valued at $600,000. Wuhan is the capital city of Hubei Province. Motorola also supplied the city’s existing paging system.
FLEX increases subscriber capacity on broadcast channels, increasing efficiency of infrastructure equipment, Motorola said.
