The switch is the result of AT&T’s purchase of McCaw Cellular Communications Inc. last September. Cellular One was used for nearly a decade in many McCaw-owned and non-McCaw markets. AT&T said Cellular One customers will see new products, services and technological advances. Existing McCaw management will be kept and AT&T will maintain the decentralized management system used by McCaw, said AT&T Wireless, based in Kirkland, Wash.
