John Roese has joined Huawei as senior vice president and general manager of the company’s North American research and development unit. Roese joins the company from Nortel Networks, where he was CTO. He also has held positions with Broadcom Corp., Enterasys Networks and Cabletron.
Consumer Cellular named Carolyn Hollowell marketing manager where she will oversee development and implementation of integrated marketing and communication campaigns for the company. Hollowell most recently was director of marketing at Cricket Wireless, where she developed strategic marketing campaigns to increase awareness of the company’s brand.
Modesat Communications appointed Dr. Sanguoon Chung its new vice president of R&D and Chief Technical Officer. He will be in charge of leading strategic development of Modesat’s next-generation modems in his new role. Chung formerly was VP R&D at Samsung Electronics and director of Broadcom.
Digital media technology company Snell appointed Robert Rowe chief technical officer. He will be responsible for the company’s engineering implementation and technology strategy. Prior to joining the company, Rowe was an independent consultant to Cambridge Silicon Radio. He also held positions with Cambridge Positioning Systems, Aerial Communications, AirTouch PCS and Telesis Technologies Laboratory.
Armando Almeida has been appointed to head Nokia Siemens Networks’ Global Services business. He will also join the company’s executive board. Almeida currently is responsible for sales and operations for NSN in Latin America.
Johnie Johnson, CEO of Nex-Tech Wireless, was named to the board of directors of The Wireless Foundation, the philanthropic organization created by CTIA. He will serve a three-year term on the board. Johnson also holds seats on the boards of CTIA and the Rural Cellular Association.
