Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Nokia Siemens, Airspan and Fortress

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
–Slovenia: Tusmobil has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks to deploy 400 environmentally friendly base stations to boost the carrier’s network capabilities by offering high-end mobile Internet, data and multimedia services.
WiMAX
–Gibralter: Airspan Networks Inc. said it received a network expansion contract from CTS Gibralter.
Miscellaneous
–United States: Fortress Technologies said it has been chosen to help develop a prototype mobile ad hoc wireless network for deployment in the wireless tactical battlespace. The deployment is in partnership with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dam Neck, a component of the Naval Sea Systems Command. Fortress will deliver the prototype system, including a complete mesh network, under a $1.4 million grant program.
