EV-DO BlackBerry peaks out of Bell Mobility

WATERLOO, Ontario-BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd. appears to be prepping an EV-DO device similar to its 7100-series of gadgets. According to documents on Bell Mobility’s Web site, the carrier is planning to sell the BlackBerry 7130e, which features a phone-like design and support for the carrier’s EV-DO network.

That RIM is building CDMA EV-DO devices comes as no real surprise; the company earlier this week unveiled an EDGE-capable device for Cingular Wireless L.L.C.’s network.

The 7130e on Bell Mobility’s Web site features Bluetooth, an Internet browser and a scaled-down design similar to RIM’s 7100 series devices. Bell Mobility did not provide pricing for the device, or say when it would be available.

RIM was not immediately available for comment.
