With mixed reviews coming in for the BlackBerry PlayBook, one wouldn’t think RIM would have much cause for overconfidence just yet, but according to ads splashed across the pages of the New York Times this morning, it appears the BlackBerry maker is brimming with bravado.
“AMATEUR HOUR IS OVER.” declares the emphatic ad slogan for the BlackBerry PlayBook, though whether the firm is referring to its own efforts or to those of its competitors is unclear.
The PlayBook has almost universally been lauded as an attractive, stylish, classy looking and expensive feeling tablet, but with almost no apps to speak of, a near crippling reliance on either ever present Wi-Fi or an additional BlackBerry device and no SD or Micro SD card, we’re not entirely convinced amateur hour is *quite* over.
Still, kudos to RIM for the overconfidence (hubris?!), and here’s hoping the future updates and apps for the device prove the publicity right. Because we so want to love this tablet.
