OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint Nextel Corp. and Avaya Inc. announced a joint agreement calling for the companies to develop and deliver hosted Voice over Internet Protocol wireline and wireless services in North America.
According to the pact, the companies jointly will develop, market and support new VoIP services for business customers as a full-suite portfolio, including services from customer premises equipment to network-based solutions. Avaya will offer its portfolio of IP communications applications, including IP telephony, wireless integration and messaging, in a hosted model. Sprint will provide hosted IP telephony and wireless services and applications on a per-seat, per-month basis, said the companies.
Sprint and Avaya said they initially plan to launch their first offering, Sprint Hosted Messaging, in the fourth quarter, followed by Hosted IP Telephony and Wireless Integration next year.
