MUNICH, Germany-Siemens AG won a contract with Tele2 SIA, Latvia’s largest telecommunications provider, to build a third-generation W-CDMA network and expand its GSM network.
“The Baltic states are one of the fastest-growing economic regions in Europe,” said Christoph Caselitz, president of Mobile Networks at Siemens. “We are pleased to be able to participate in this boom and accompany the new EU countries in the evolution of their mobile communication networks toward 3G.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
