Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) continued to spread its prepaid offering with its Boost Mobile division unveiling a new access plan providing unlimited services for $2 per day. The plan includes unlimited nationwide talk, text, Internet access, picture messaging, e-mail and calls to 411.
Virtually all of Boost Mobile’s devices are compatible with the new daily plan except for Research In Motion Ltd.’s (RIMM) BlackBerry Curve, which is still limited to the $60 per month plan.
Boost Mobile said the $2 charge for the daily plan will be deducted regardless of usage at midnight in the customer’s time zone unless the customer cancels the subscription.
The daily plan joins Boost’s current monthly plans that run $50 for most of its devices and $60 per month for the BlackBerry Curve.
The new offering joins Sprint Nextel’s plethora of prepaid services offered through its Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile USA, Common Cents and Assurance Wireless offerings. Sprint Nextel counted more than 11 million direct prepaid customers on its network at the end of the second quarter
