The openness of Android is what many people love so much about the mobile OS – you can run your own code on it, customise it however you see fit, and generally tinker about much more so than you can with it’s competitors. The Android Market is open too – anybody can put an App on there and wait to start raking in the cash.

It would seem that after all those rumours attributing an astronomical price point to the Motorola Xoom, common sense has won out and the Honeycomb-powered tablet will indeed be relatively affordable at launch.

It would seem you can’t escape fanboyism in even the most lofty corridors of power. It has been revealed by a former British MP that he nominated Apple’s eponymous CEO for the title, but the request was shot down by then-Prime Minister Gordon Brown as payback for Jobs snubbing an invitation to speak at Brown’s Labour Party conference.

It’s an irrefutable fact that there’s nothing more crowd-pleasing on the internet than mashing up otherwise mundane numbers into swanky visualisations. Be it infographics, flowcharts, or, in this case, videos, you’re bound to attract eyeballs if you can turn boring data into pretty visuals.

Last week Apple announced they would be beefing up their In-App Purchases system (the catchily-named IAP API), introducing new rules which mandate all Apps that sell additional content, services or subscriptions MUST use Apple’s system, and pay them a 30% cut for the privilege.

It would seem that digital publishing, the messiah many publishing houses have been pinning their hopes on to stem the losses paper magazines are making, is finally taking off.

Just a short while after Apple and News Corp. announced their collaboration to produce a tablet newspaper called The Daily, Yahoo has announced its new publishing platform, which it calls Livestand – a digital newsstand for tablets and mobile phones.

I did it again. I bought another iPhone. This time it’s the same iPhone that I already own. Less exciting. Nothing new. Just the same old iPhone 4, but this time with Verizon Wireless. Instead of waiting in line for maybe 10 grueling hours to get my hands on Verizon’s iPhone 4 today, I decided that having it in my hands before Mobile World Congress wasn’t worth it, so I pre-ordered online.
